About
Dr Richard Doherty is a highly specialist Clinical Psychologist, experienced in delivering CBT, ACT and Mindfulness therapy for a range of physical and psychological difficulties. In his NHS role he has worked at St Thomas hospital for 10 years and during that time has been the lead psychologist for the complex sleep, asthma, headache and ICU unit. Currently he has a locum role at St Thomas' in staff support for anxiety, stress and sleep in ICU. Privately he is the clinical director for 'Dr Richard Doherty & Associates: an anxiety, sleep and stress clinic'.
Dr Doherty Completed his Honours Degree (first class) in Psychology from the University of London. He then went on to obtain a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, and a further Diploma in CBT Therapy, awarded with Distinction. He works with a wide range of issues, including treating all types of sleep conditions, anxiety, work-related stress, depression, and physical health conditions including chronic pain and migraine.
As well as his NHS and private work, he currently teaches on the Oxford University Clinical Doctorate course on 'CBT and advanced interventions', and the Royal Holloway CBT course.
