She also undertook a research degree at UCL, resulting in her being awarded a PhD for her work.
Dr Rachel Byng-Maddick actively engages in medical education, holding the position of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Lead for rheumatology teaching at Guys and St Thomas' Hospital (KCL). She regularly lectures and supervises junior doctors during their training at Guy's and St Thomas's hospitals. She is also an active researcher, with numerous peer-reviewed articles. She also holds membership to several organisations including the British Society of Rheumatology and the Royal College of Physicians.

I highly recommend Dr Byng-Maddick to anyone requiring an experienced rheumatologist. Her approach to the diagnosis and subsequent recommended treatment is the perfect balance of professionalism and empathy. I found her course of action to be sensible and pragmatic taking into consideration my personal circumstances. Her excellent bedside manner also means that I feel like a real person rather than just another number in a long line of patients.
