Dr Punit Ramrakha has over 20 years of expertise as a consultant cardiologist. He sees patients with coronary heart disease, hypertension, arrhythmia, blackouts and dizziness, heart failure, and valve disease. He is an expert interventional cardiologist with a wide range of experience. He performs surgeries including coronary angioplasty with stents (including complex treatments like rotablation and shock wave therapy), structural cardiac interventions (ASD and PFO closure), and pacemaker implantation. Dr Ramrakha has great attention to detail and a passion for good patient outcomes.
Dr Ramrakha received first-class honours from Cambridge and Oxford Universities and became a Consultant Cardiologist in 2002. His NHS base is at the Buckinghamshire Hospitals NHS Trust and the Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
He has previously served as the Clinical Director of Medicine at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, as well as the Clinical Lead for Cardiology. He is the current clinical lead for heart failure in Buckinghamshire.
Dr Ramrakha established the Chiltern Hills Heart Practice, Buckinghamshire's first private cardiology clinic, in 2005, and the clinic has always been highly rated by the Care Quality Commission. He co-founded the London Heart Practice in 2020, which provided quality heart care throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Dr Ramrakha is also well-known in the scientific research world, having written several medical textbooks, including the Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine, the Oxford Handbook of Acute Medicine, and the Oxford Handbook of Cardiology, as well as peer-reviewed journals. He has research interests in vascular biology and the clinical application of novel digital technologies such as the app 'HeartHealth'.

I visited Dr. Ramrakha, as I was very worried about some of the things mentioned on a recent echo test report. He went through everything on the report with me and explained in easy to understand terms what it all meant. He gave me a physical examination and asked about my current lifestyle (fairly active) and assured me that me heart was working well and that I should continue with my active life style. Dr. Ramrakha talked to me kindly, respectfully and clearly, and made me feel at ease during the consultation, he has a very professional and friendly manner.

I have been very pleased with the treatment that I have received from Dr Ramrakha and his team. During the first consultation Dr Ramrakha spent a long time taking notes of my condition. He proposed a strategy specifying some tests which I could arrange quickly thanks to his help. Dr Ramrakha sent me a detailed write up of my condition which showed a good understanding of what I had said during the consultation. Following the tests, Dr Ramrakha promptly sent me details of the results and their implications and proposed a way forward. Overall I have found the consultation process excellent, thank you.

I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with Dr. Ramrakha. He is a very approachable professional, displaying a level of expertise that always instils confidence in me. Dr. Ramrakha always patiently explains medical jargon in a manner that is easily understandable, leaving no room for confusion or uncertainty. Beyond his medical expertise, Dr. Ramrakha has a great bedside manner that immediately puts patients at ease. In summary, my experience with Dr. Ramrakha has been nothing short of exceptional.

Punit is an extremely astute and capable cardiologist and enormously popular with his patients As I look after the pipes and he does the pump we have a large number in common. Perhaps the highest recommendation is that he is my cardiologist enabling me to keep my pilots license in the teeth of bureaucratic intransigence over erroneous investigations!
