Dr Madhavi Vellayan is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist specialising in Gynaecological Endoscopy. She is based in Gloucestershire and currently practises at the following private hospitals:
She obtained her primary medical degree from the University of Madras, India in 1992. She later underwent Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in a number of renowned medical centres in Yorkshire. She completed her specialist training in Gynaecological Endoscopy at Jessop Hospital For Women, Sheffield.
She also underwent training in minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery, accredited by both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and the British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy.
Dr Vellayan has expertise in a wide range of women's health conditions, from conception issues, period problems and ovarian masses to the management of urinary incontinence and symptoms of menopause. She has special interests in the following conditions:
In her current practice, Dr Vellayan discusses all available treatment and management options with her patients, allowing them to make informed decisions. Minimally invasive surgeries are recommended where possible to maximise patient recovery after operation.
She also offers short notice appointments, allowing her patients to see her as soon as possible if necessary. She is easy to contact and keeps in touch with her patients through every stage of the treatment process and even after discharge before post-operative follow-ups.
