Dr Khaled Alfakih qualified from St Bartholomew's Medical College, London in 1993. He then undertook cardiology research at the British Heart Foundation Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Unit in Leeds, where he evaluated heart muscle thickening (left ventricular hypertrophy) in patients with hypertension using the electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiography and cardiac MRI.
Dr Alfakih trained in cardiology and cardiac imaging in Leeds and Nottingham, before undertaking further training in cardiac MRI at St Thomas' Hospital in London. He trained in Cardiac CT at at Harbor-UCLA in the USA.
He is a general cardiologist who primarily investigates and manages patients with chest pain, high blood pressure, palpitations and dizziness, faints and shortness of breath, valvular heart disease and cardiomyopathies. His specialisms are diagnostic cardiac imaging of the heart using trans-thoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography, cardiac MRI and cardiac CT.
Dr Alfakih is very active in research as a principal investigator for several clinical trials, and has published 120+ peer-reviewed articles and conference abstracts.
