Dr Hickey specialises in skin cancer and has considerable expertise in mole check, benign lesion removal and skin cancer surgery. His other area of interest is the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, eczema and psoriasis.
After graduating in Medicine from the University of London in 1996, Dr Hickey trained in internal medicine becoming a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2000. His Dermatology training was undertaken at a number of specialist sites including St Johns Institue of Dermatology and the Bristol Royal Infirmary. He joined the Specialist Register in 2010 and has worked as an NHS Consultant at both the Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospitals and Salisbury District Hospital. He is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists.

Highly recommend Dr Hickey. I saw him recently for a mole check. He was very professional and his bedside manner is excellent, explaining everything and completing a full skin check during the appointment. I came away feeling completely reassured and will definitely see him again if I need a dermatologist in the future. Also, his secretary Caroline is lovely, staying late to return my call and squeezing me in for appointment urgently. Can’t thank her enough.

My son aged 21 saw Dr Hickey due to untreatable and recurring folliculitis on his head. Not responding to antibiotics or other treatment and Gp advised that due to delays in NHS dermatology we see Dr Hickey for a diagnosis. The experience was very straightforward . We got an apt , a diagnosis and treatment which has really worked . Very pleased. He has a excellent secretary who you can contact and get a quick response from and sends out the letters and keeps in contact with you buy email.

Dr Hickey had a very kind, reassuring and professional manner. Spoke clearly about the possible options and procedures. Fitted my punch biopsy in before his leave to save me having any delay. Very efficiently organised from his PA Caroline to the lovely nurse assisting at Newhall Hospital. Would highly recommend Dr Hickey.

Dr Hickey was extremely personable and professional. He kept me fully informed during my procedure and answered in detail any questions I had before, during and afterwards. His skills have meant minimal post operation discomfort and a quick healing process.
