About

James Good is a consultant oncologist with a leading reputation in the sphere of gastro-intestinal oncology and in stereotactic radiotherapy for metastatic (secondary) cancer. James believes that everyone affected by cancer should have access to compassionate, evidence-based and innovative treatment, and strives to offer this across his practices in Birmingham, Oxford and London.

James trained as a scientist at Cambridge University before focussing on cancer medicine and radiotherapy at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Since moving to Birmingham he has been principle investigator on a a number of trials of immunotherapy and of novel drug and radiotherapy combinations. James pioneered the introduction of MRI-guided radiotherapy in the UK and has developed an international profile in its use, particularly for cancer of the liver and pancreas, and for secondary tumours of all kinds. He is the Clinical Director of Stereotactic Radiotherapy at GenesisCare, a private cancer provider.

Dr Good is a member of a number of professional organisations including the Royal College of Physicians, the Radiosurgery Society, and the European Society of Medical Oncology. Dr Good was very thorough and took the time to explain in great detail the treatment. Options were discussed and pro and cons given appropriate considerations. All of this was done with honesty in an area where data is still being gathered about the best treatment options.

I was insured with Vitality and my oncologist was not on their panel and referred me to James. He showed exceptional care and knowledge and got me booked in for stereotactic radiotherapy really quickly. I would not hesitate in recommending his services - he provided me with a great service and his team at the Cromwell were amazing

Excellent throughout my entire treatment, from initial discussion right the way through to follow up. Hopefully will not require same treatment again but would not hesitate to return if required. I can't really say anymore than that, just a big thank you for everything.

I found Dr James Good to be a warm caring professional man. He delivered sensitive information in an empathetic way. I really feel despite an awful diagnosis of inoperable pancreatic cancer he has my best interest at heart and was willing to leave no stone unturned to help me. He was always quick to communicate with me directly and very down to earth. He made me feel like I was a person and not a statistic to this disease.

Explanation

James is a pleasure to work with. I've received a level of care and understanding that I hadn't received before with other oncologists that I've encountered on my cancer journey. His ability to listen to the patient and come up with a plan that also considers my holistic needs, not just the medical ones, without compromising the treatment of the disease, is second to none. Recently, I was in an unfortunate position which required a last minute change of my planned treatment. James adapted to the situation and arranged a different type of treatment to suit my needs at the time. This really provided much needed relief in a stressful period of my life. James also has extensive knowledge about advanced radiotherapy treatment methods, from which I have recently benefited.

Explanation

Dr James Good, took on my case for a pancreatic cancer secondary tumour in a lymph node next to my aorta using Meridan MRLinac directed radiotherapy treatment with great success. James, explained in detail the treatment and its risks and I felt totally confident that I was in safe hands throughout my procedure. In this respect, I totally recommend Dr James Good for cancer care radiotherapy as I have total trust in him.
