Dr Emma Craythorne treats a range of skin problems including acne, rosacea, moles, skin cancers, scars, discolouration, eczema, psoriasis and ageing skin. Emma has expertise in all areas of general dermatology, skin cancer and cosmetic dermatology. Emma specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers and laser surgery.
Emma trained in Scotland and Newcastle before completing her specialist training at King’s College Hospital and St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
Emma is a Consultant in the Dermatology Surgery and Laser Unit of St John’s Institute of Dermatology. This is an internationally-renowned skin hospital founded in 1868. It is the leading UK skin department and one of the largest dermatology departments in the world.
In addition to being a Mohs and Laser surgeon, Emma leads skin cancer imaging research at the Institute. She runs the UK’s only service for detecting and managing skin cancer using confocal microscopy.
Emma is on the executive board of the British Society of Dermatological Surgery and is an advisor to NICE, the National Institute of Clinical Excellence. Emma has also won local and national grants for her research.
Emma is passionate about contributing back to her field. She was commissioned to author the textbook Dermatology Pocket Tutor, which she recently completed.
