Her experience has earned her an excellent reputation and allowed her to work alongside Paralympians and Olympians, as well as the ordinary sportsperson. She was appointed a ports Physician at the 2012 Olympic Games and the 2002 Commonwealth Games. She has worked with the athletes for the GB rowing, track and field sports, marathon, endurance, and outdoor adventure.
Dr Spencer-Smith is an active teacher, having developed an MSc at Bangor University. She often lectures and presents at conferences and on the TV. She is also a marathon runner and triathlete and uses her own experience to empathise with the frustrations of injury in sport.
It is important that HCA is transparent about our relationship with those doctors who provide us with clinical guidance on delivering the best possible care to patients and operating our hospitals safely and efficiently. We set out here some of the ways in which we work together and the amount we pay this doctor for such services.

Peer recommendations

"Dr Spencer-Smith is an exceptional sports physician specialising in musculoskeletal treatment. I've worked with Cath as a recipient of her referrals for Dietetics for several years now; and all patients who have received her care have only had positive feedback. Her care and attention to 'tricky' musculoskeletal issues, chronic under-training or other sports performance issues is incredible. She comes highly recommended from one clinician to another, don't look any further!"

"Cath is a very knowledgable and experienced Sports Doctor. She is an excellent communicator and helps clients understand their condition and takes the time to carefully explain to clients what is wrong and what the best options are for a full recovery. I refer regularly to Cath and would trust her with my nearest and dearest. One of the best!"
