Dr Cameron Martin is the consultant gynaecologist in South East Scotland. He is a national laparoscopic cancer and endometriosis specialist.
With higher specialist surgical training, he is experienced in high-precision surgeries, operating on the most complex cancer cases. He also regularly treats patients suffering with gynaecological diseases such as endometriosis and heavy periods.
Dr Martin's primary competency is laparoscopic (key-hole) surgery. In the early 2000s within Scotland, he introduced new techniques including hysterectomy and radical endometriosis resection.
Dr Martin has played a key role in the setting up of an accredited Endometriosis Treatment Centre at Edinburgh. He also works together with consultant colleagues, patient groups and government policy makers to bring about a National Clinical Network to better the quality and consistency of treatment.
After graduating and achieving an MB ChB and BMed Biol with honours, Dr Martin was awarded the esteemed Medical Research Council Fellowship, and gained an MD (Doctor of Medicine) in reproductive medicine. He then went on to receive a commendation in his Membership to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. During a subspecialty training programme, Dr Martin received subspecialist status in gynaecological cancer surgery. Later in the year 2013, Dr Cameron Martin became a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
