Dr Banchhita Sahu is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based at the Shrewsbury & Telford NHS Trust (SATH), where she is also Clinical Lead for Gynaecological Oncology. She has extensive experience treating a variety of gynaecological issues including; endometriosis, pelvic pain, post- menopausal bleeding, ovarian cysts, vulval and vaginal lumps, irregular periods, abnormal smears and uterine prolapse.

She completed her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the East Midlands and was awarded a Fellowship by The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in 2016. Following this, she was certified as Minimal Invasive Gynaecological Surgeon by the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy in 2017.

Dr Sahu has a specialist interest in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and regularly performs complex keyhole operations. She is the only surgeon in West Midlands to offer in-bag morcellation for laparoscopic subtotal hysterectomy for women with fibroid uterus. Dr Sahu introduced total laparoscopic hysterectomy (keyhole hysterectomy) at SATH, as well as a establishing the Postmenopausal bleeding clinic, Post-coital bleeding clinic and specialist Vulval clinic.

She has been published extensively in a number of medical journals and is currently the Principal Investigator at SATH for FOAM(use of Folic acid for HRT), clinical trial for new tumour markers for ovarian cancer.and COVID Surg study-impact on managememnt of gynaecological cancers.
