Dr Laurence Church is a consultant psychiatrist specialising in general adult psychiatry and addictions. Having spent five years as a consultant with Guildford Community Mental Health Recovery Service, where he received two NHS Clinical Excellence awards, Dr Church moved to full-time practice at Priory Hospital Woking in 2014. He specialises in providing care to outpatients and those receiving inpatient and day care at the hospital, working with other healthcare professionals in the multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Dr Church is an approved appraiser for Priory, responsible for carrying out annual appraisals of other consultants within the group. He is an established member of a peer group of fellow consultants at Priory Hospital Woking, and has a passion for teaching and educating other professionals, patients and their families about mental health conditions. He has delivered presentations on a wide range of mental health topics to local GPs, receiving very positive feedback. Currently, he is co-editing the second edition of Psychiatry PRN, a psychiatry textbook for medical students.

Dr Church is also a trustee for Oakleaf Enterprise, a charity that provides a range of vocational training courses and social inclusion activities for people in the local community with mental health problems.

Dr Church received his MBChB from the University of Birmingham in 1998 and became a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2002. He then undertook specialist training in London, also obtaining a Master’s degree in Psychiatric Research in 2007. Since 2009, he has been approved on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register to practice general adult and old age psychiatry.
