Mr Cohens qualifications speak for themselves what they do not tell you is How caring and understanding he has been to me over the years. He explains everything and discusses all scenarios before making a decision.

When I was diagnosed with bowel cancer my husband and I did a research on the best colorectal surgeons to have the highest chance on my surgery and recovery. When I met Dr Cohen for the first time I immediately knew he was the right surgeon who could help me. Dr Cohen explained everything very clearly, answered all my questions, we discussed my options and set a plan for my surgeries. I had to have two in the end. I had to have a temporary stoma bag for three months and after that Dr Cohen did the reverse surgery. Both surgeries went very well. Dr Cohen was coming to check on all his patients twice a day, including the weekends. Two days after my first surgery I was feeling really unwell, the doctors and nurses on duty decided to call Dr Cohen for an advice. He didn’t hesitate for a minute and came to check on me first thing on Sunday morning. I can’t be more thankful to Dr Cohen. He saved my life, thanks to the successful surgeries I no longer needed a stoma bag. My bowel function is nearly the same as before my diagnosis. Dr Cohen always cheered me up in hospital and during my follow up check up appointments. I cannot recommend Dr Cohen more!

Professor Richard Cohen is clearly a highly skilled experienced surgeon. His kindness, sincere caring , and concern make everything better and is a great encouragement to me as my case has been difficult.

From first consultation to final sign-off, Mr Cohen was a pleasure to deal with both in the clarity　of　his　advice　and　the　empathy　of　his　bedside　manner.　The two challenging surgical procedures carried out were extremely successful and Mr Cohen was also able to organise a top rate scheme of highly expert support and advice to complement my course of treatment and ongoing recovery.

I received treatment from Prof Cohen for fourth-degree haemorrhoids which needed surgery. Because of Covid-19 my initial consultation was by phone. It was un rushed and Prof Cohen listened carefully to what I had to say and carefully explained the options for my treatment, the likely experience and risks. He ensured that all my questions were answered. There followed an in-person consultation and examination. This was conducted with care and Prof Cohen gave a full explanation of my condition and, again, what my options were. He responded fully to all my questions ensuring that I felt comfortable to raise any concerns I might have. I was treated as a day patient and had given consent to Prof Cohen making the final judgement on the best procedure when examined under anaesthetic. Prof Cohen ran through the options again pre-operation and gave me an accurate account of what to expect during post-operation recovery. Following the surgery, he visited to ensure all had gone well and explained clearly his decision to opt for a stapled haemorrhoidectomy. I have made a full recovery and had the opportunity for a post-operation consultation. I chose Prof Cohen as my surgeon on the basis of strong recommendation from friends who knew his work from personal experience as patients and his professional reputation. He fulfilled all the high expectations I had of him given his outstanding reputation. I am pleased that I chose Prof Cohen as my surgeon and very grateful to have benefitted from his outstanding professional skill and care.

Professor Cohen is different to other colorectal specialists I’ve had in the past who gave me tablets that just weren’t solving my issues. Professor Cohen has taken time to establish all the facts, working with colleagues to ensure a thorough and considered diagnosis and plan is put in place. I clearly understood what my options were and felt supported at every stage of treatment. I had a colectomy, temporary ileostomy and more recently, reversal. I was in over a week both times. Prof personally cares for you round the clock in hospital, popping in and phoning each day to oversee the care plan and importantly, how you’re feeling. He even popped in on his way out to dinner one Saturday evening! These gestures do not go unnoticed and show how much he cares about his patients and the importance of his work. He always responds with advice and has a sense of humour along the way which can really spur you on I feel very privileged and secure to be under his care. Thank you Professor Cohen.

Professor Cohen does things differently. He explains everything in a very straight forward and logical manner and puts me at ease. I know i am in good hands. His bedside manner as a Doctor is really valued especially when I was poorly and he explained everything to my family very shortly after surgery. This was really appreciated as my family didnt have to wait around for an update on the surgery. His skill shines through as a surgeon as he is experienced in this rather niche field. At follow up appointments progress was monitored closely with contact increased as necessary to monitor recovery. His approach is also very thorough. When deciding whether to undergo surgery the risks and benefits were explained clearly along with potential side effects. What I appreciated the most was when he popped in to see me in hospital on a Saturday on his way back from a football match. It is small acts like this that make Professor Cohen a trusted Doctor and one that I would recommend to colleagues and loved ones.

I have been meaning to write in for some time , but with the other on set of Covid , I realise even more how lucky I was to have Mr Cohen as my surgeon ... he basically saved my life and gave me the best care imaginable care from start to finish!
