Dr Alex Everitt studied medicine at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, qualifying in 1990. As a junior doctor, his
general medical training took place in Durham, Newcastle, London and Bristol. He later completed a PhD investigating the epidemiology and causes of epilepsy at the Institute of Neurology, UCL and the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy. He undertook his general neurology training between 1999-2003 at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals, the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (Queen Square), and King's College Hospital. He was appointed consultant neurologist at St Mary's Hospital in 2003.
