Professor Claire Sharpe is a Professor and Honorary Consultant in Renal Medicine at King's College London/King's College Hospital. A graduate of University College London's Medical School (U.K.), she commenced her PhD at King's with a Kidney Research UK Clinical Training Fellowship after specializing in kidney medicine. In 2002, she was the recipient of a National Institute for Health Research Clinician Scientist Award and became a practicing consultant in 2004; four years later, she was awarded a Clinical Senior Lectureship from the government to enable her to continue researching while also teaching as an academic professor—a position she still holds today when splitting her time between research, patient care, and instruction
