Allergy (Adults)
25 years of experience

I was the first National Trainee in Allergy in the UK and completed my specialist training in allergy at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Trust in 2006. Along the way, I was awarded a Clinical Research Fellowship by the Medical Research Council to read for a PhD.

I started work as Clinical Lead in Adult Allergy at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (St Mary's) in May 2010.  St Mary’s is the oldest allergy clinic in the UK and is famous worldwide as the home of allergen immunotherapy.

My clinical interests are: hay fever and allergic rhinitis (you don't need to suffer!), urticaria, anaphylaxis and drug allergy (so if you want to know if you are allergic to Penicillin or not then I am the doctor for you).

I believe in trying to make medicine accessible to the public. A lack of information helps no one. I have seen patients who have suffered unecessarily for years or who have thought they are allergic to something, only to find that they are not. I want my patients and their families to feel empowered about what to do and when to seek help.

I tweet regularly about allergy and I have taken part in TalkHealth chats to provide allergy support. I lecture nationally and internationally. I have been quoted in the press on numerous occasions and appeared on national television many times.
