Dr Melanie Powell studied medicine at The Royal Free Hospital and trained in cancer medicine at The Royal Marsden, Mount Vernon and The Middlesex Hospitals. She has been based at St Bartholomew's Hospital since 1998 where she has a particular interest in the treatment of gynaecological, head and neck cancers and radiation for lymphoma and prostate cancer. Her main research interests include improved targeting of radiation therapy with an emphasis on reducing toxicity and potentially increasing cure rates.

Dr Powell is a member of the National Cancer Research Network Gynaecological Cancer Group and sits on The East London and City Research Ethics Committee. In addition, she is actively involved with the teaching of medical students at Barts and The London School of Medicine.

Dr Danielle Power is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist, based at Imperial College NHS Trust and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College. She is also active in teaching, training and is an investigator or co-investigator in a number of clinical trials. In 2017, Dr Power was appointed Clinical Director for Oncology & Palliative Care Services at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Dr Siamak Arami is a Consultant Haematologist at London North West University Healthcare trust since 2015 and an honorary senior clinical lecturer in haematology for Imperial College London, previously holding a post as a consultant haematologist in Kings College Hospital in London, developing a particular interest in leukaemia and myeloproliferative disorders. Dr Arami also pioneered the digital chemotherapy healthcare solution project in Kings College hospital and monitored the very first patient in UK with chemotherapy healthcare application on Apple technology.

Dr Arami qualified in Medicine in 2000, conducting immunology research at Royal Free Hospital, London in primary immunodeficiency syndromes in National Research Institute under World Health Organisation program. He specialised in haematology at the St Marys Hospital London and Northern deanery, receiving his membership of the Royal College of Physicians and the Royal College of Pathologists in 2008 and 2013, respectively. He completed his post-graduate fellowship in haematological cancers and stem cell transplantation at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center and University of Washington in Seattle, USA.

Dr Arami’s research interests include digital health technology and management of patients with leukaemia and myeloproliferative disorders. He has been an investigator in a large number of practice-changing national and international trials with publications in international peer-reviewed journals . Dr Arami is the lead for myeloproliferative disorders and chronic myeloid leukaemia at London North West University Healthcare NHS trust. He is also the College tutor for Haematology training at London North West Healthcare NHS Trust.

Dr Ian Gabriel is a Consultant Haematologist and the Lead Clinician at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and he is also a Stem Cell (Bone Marrow) Transplant Consultant at Imperial College. Dr Gabriel sees patients privately at a number of locations, including the Lister and the London Bridge Hospitals.

Dr Gabriel qualified in medicine from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School – Imperial College in 1999 and completed specialist training in haematology in London. He has a Joint Consultant position with Imperial College NHS Healthcare Trust (Hammersmith Hospital) where he specialises in haemato-oncology (myeloma) and stem cell transplantation and at Chelsea and Westminster, where he leads the service for blood cancers, including myeloma, lymphoma, myelodysplasia and leukaemia. He completed research for his PhD in transplant immunology.

Dr Gabriel is also one of the leading clinicians for stem cell treatment for multiple sclerosis, leading the service at Imeprial College. He is a founding member of the European Consortium for Stem Cell Mobilisation (ECOSM), a member of the European Blood and Marrow Transplant Group (EBMT) autoimmune disease and acute leukaemia working parties. He is also primary and co-investigator on a number of national and international clinical trials in haematology. Further he runs a general haematology clinic, including for anti-coagulation conditions. He has published numerous peer reviewed papers on lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia and HIV haematology, in addition to those on stem cell transplantation and authored a number of book chapters.

Dr Stephen Harland was appointed Senior Lecturer in Medical Oncology at the Institute of Urology in 1986. Since then, he has specialised in testis, bladder and prostate cancers and has led on the medical oncological treatment of these tumours at Middlesex and University College Hospitals.

Dr Harland has been active in research into urological cancer throughout his consultant career and his publications reflect this. He has served as Chairman of the MRC Bladder Cancer Group, of the North London Urology Tumour Board and the Castration-resistant Subgroup of the National Cancer Research Network Prostate Cancer Clinical Studies Group. He was on the Editorial Committee of the Government's document for improving outcomes in urological cancer and has been a frequent speaker at international meetings.

Dr Hedley Berry is a highly experienced Consultant Rheumatologist based in London. He trained at Wadham College in Oxford and Guys Hospital Medical School in London. He started his career with a House Physician role at Guy’s and then Senior House officer role at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. Following this, he became a Senior Registrar in Cardiology which initiated his interest in inflammatory joint disease. After carrying out academic and clinical research, he received a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Oxford in 1973. He subsequently continued his clinical work as Senior Registrar at The London Hospital. Dr Berry was appointed Consultant to the Department of Rheumatology, Kings College Hospital where he worked for 25 years. During this time, he carried out extensive clinical research and has published a number of peer-reviewed papers in learned journals.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Berry is a lecturer at the University of London and has taught a number of generations of medical students. He has also given lecturers internationally on the treatment of inflammatory joint disease.

Dr Berry is now working in full time private practice. He has a clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of arthritis, medical aspects of back pain, as well as osteoporosis and osteomalacia. He also has extensive experience managing neck and arm pain, along with soft tissue conditions such as tennis and golfers elbow.

His major interests are in diagnosis and treatment of arthritis. He has developed a special interest in medical aspects of back pain, and also has wide experience of management of neck and arm pain along with soft tissue conditions such as tennis and golfers elbow. Mr Michael Tappin is a Consultant Ophthalmologist based in London, Guildford and Woking who specialises in cornea, cataract, anterior segment and refractive laser and lens surgery. 

He is a founding member and director of LaserVision, a specialist eye clinic offering the full range of eye treatments in private hospitals across the UK. LaserVision surgeons use the most advanced cutting-edge technology, including one of few Ziemer Z8 femtosecond lasers in the UK used for laser eye surgery and laser cataract surgery.

Mr Tappin qualified in Medicine from St Mary's Medical School, London in 1999. He went on to complete his specialist training in Sheffield and North Thames, including Moorfields Eye Hospital. He went on to further specialise in corneal, laser and refractive surgery and he undertook fellowships at Moorfields Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth. He was appointed as a Consultant in 2001. Mr Tappin currently practices at the Royal Surrey NHS Hospital alongside his private clinics.

Outside his practice, Mr Tappin has been involved in research on corneal transplant surgery and in cataract lens implants. He regularly lectures on corneal transplantation and was the first surgeon in the UK to perform DMEK, an innovative endothelial cell transplantation technique. He also recently published a new surgical technique for the treatment of pterygium.
