Dr Antonio Metastasio is a Consultant Psychiatrist presently working at the Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust. He privately practices in Harley Street, where he is an associate at the Cognacity team; and in Cambridge at Salus Wellness.

Having qualified from the University of Perugia in 2000, Dr Metastasio went on to train in Geriatrics in Italy. Following this, he pursued a career in Psychiatry at the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust and holds a certificate of completion of training with a double endorsement in Addiction Psychiatry and in General Adult Psychiatry. He has also obtained an MSc in Addiction Biology from the Institute of Psychiatry, King’s College London and is currently completing a Master degree in Genomic Medicine at the University of Cambridge. Dr Metastasio is responsible for all medical expertise, including devising the pharmacological interventions, at the Cambridge adult ADHD clinic.

Dr Metastasio has expertise in the main areas of adult psychiatry and in addictions including alcohol and substance disorders and behavioural addictions. He has experience in the treatment of a number of mental illnesses including depression, anxiety and panic disorder, bipolar affective disorder, cyclothymia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, chronic fatigue syndrome, personal personality disorders and psychosis. Further to this, he has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals in the fields of depression, psychosis, alcohol misuse, substance misuse and genomic medicine.

Dr Metastasio is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the British Association of Psychopharmacology and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine. He has been a senior clinical Tutor at the University of Cambridge and he is currently teaching medical students at University College London.

Dr Ferrin is highly active in research, having published more than 40 international peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in the field of child psychiatry. She is part of the steering committee of the Continuum ADHD Project, an expert-led pan-European educational initiative in the ADHD field. Dr Ferrin is also one of the few UK members of the Eunethydis Group (European Network for Hyperkinetic Disorders) and the European ADHD Guidelines Group (EAGG), independent international leading groups with special clinical and research interest in the ADHD/ADD field.

Dr Ferrin is also Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the Brain and Behaviour Laboratory, at the University of Southampton

Dr Paul Bester is an eminent Consultant Psychiatrist, practicing at the Priory Hospital Roehampton. At the first visit, Dr Bester will work on developing a connection with your child to encourage trust and open communication and will tailor his care to suit the individual needs of each child or young adult. This may involve medication and /or co-working with an appropriate therapist.

If medication is indicated, Dr Bester will formulate a safe protocol, discuss the mechanisms and risks and provide support throughout. He works with Pharmacierge, which delivers medication to your door, and with GPs using shared care porotocols to prescribe medication when appropriate to do so safely.

For complex treatment issues, he colloborates with Myogenes, a company which provides personalised pharmaco-genetic testing. This helps clinicians optimise treatment decisions and identifies patient-specific genetic markers which indicate the medications likely to work as intended, as well as the risk of adverse effects. It involves an easily administered cheek swab test (buccal swab).

Dr Bester completed an extensive training scheme in child and adolescent psychiatry, followed by forensic psychiatry and spent the early part of his professional career in the NHS, and also worked as an expert witness in the criminal and family courts for many years,  before focusing on private practice. He has had opinion published in The Times and The Telegraph and various newspapers, and has presented at UK and international conferences. He also has accredited research publications in the Journal of Forensic Psychiatry.
