Leiomyomas are benign tumours commonly occurring in the uterine wall. They are rarely seen in the vaginal wall leading to pressure symptoms on urinary tract. Indentation of leiomyoma from anterior vaginal wall into the bladder is rare and hence we report one such case. A 55 year old Caucasian woman presented to urology clinic with recurrent Urinary tract infection and pressure symptoms. After the diagnosis of a vaginal mass, she was referred to Gynaecology clinic. During the excision of the vaginal mass its indentation into the bladder was noted. Histology report confirmed the diagnosis of benign leiomyoma.

Gynaecologist reveals the 10 most common reasons why you're struggling to orgasm

Objectives: To assess patients' preferred method of consent for the use of information from electronic medical records for research.

Design: Interviews and a structured survey of patients in practices with electronic medical records.

Setting: Family practices in southern Ontario, Canada.

Participants: 123 patients: 17 were interviewed and 106 completed a survey.

Main outcome measures: Patients' opinions and concerns on use of information from their medical records for research and their preferences for method of consent.

Results: Most interviewees were willing to allow the use of their information for research purposes, although the majority preferred that consent was sought first. The seeking of consent was considered an important element of respect for the individual. Most interviewees made little distinction between identifiable and anonymised data. Research sponsored by private insurance firms generated the greatest concern, and research sponsored by foundation the least. Sponsorship by drug companies evoked negative responses during interview and positive responses in the survey.

Conclusions: Patients are willing to allow information from their medical records to be used for research, but most prefer to be asked for consent either verbally or in writing.

A wonderful man, and groundbreaking surgeon. I was extremely unwell with endometriosis and adenomyosis when I  heard of of a Total Peritoneal Excision, but not many places were offering the surgery. I travelled to Manchester to meet Dr Edi-Osagie and he was very reassuring and knowledgeable throughout. He later performed the surgery, which was successful. Afterwards he showed me pictures he had taken, explained what he had found/done, and was again reassuring and positive on the outcome. Thanks to the surgery I was lucky enough to fall pregnant naturally 8 months later and now have a beautiful daughter. I could not thank, or recommend, Dr Edi-Osagie enough.
