Having had cataract surgery on my right eye at Nuffield Parkside Hospital in January 2022, (which is a very good hospital), I was slightly apprehensive about the experience I might get at Kingston Hospital Private Unit which, understandably, uses the NHS facility. How wrong I was to be apprehensive. The pre-appointment administration was excellent and efficient, and the facilities of the Royal Eye Unit itself were on a par, or probably superior, with the private Nuffield Parkside Hospital. It was a bonus that I was in and out in half the time that it took at the Nuffield.

The liason between Kingston private care and my Consultant was not very good. In relation to covid testing , lack of clarity about eating or drinking beforehand. In fact rather disorganised. My consultants secretary had to sort things out , and the second time she did everything and it was good.

Had a long wait. The machine broke down during my cataract operation which caused me great stress. It was mended in a few minutes, and the operation continued without problems.

Very efficiently run by small group of staff. Reassuring and confident.
