Ellern Mede Barnet | Eating Disorder Hospital

Ellern Mede Barnet is a specialised eating disorder hospital offering 16 inpatient beds, complemented by an adjoining step-down annex. The facility provides highly specialised care for children and young people aged 8 to 18 years, as well as young adults up to 25 years in a separate eight-bed ward and the annex. The focus is on preparing patients to rejoin the community and return home.

Services at Ellern Mede Barnet are available both privately and in collaboration with publicly funded health authorities across the British Isles and internationally. The hospital has a bright and modern environment with spacious en-suite bedrooms, communal areas, a “Rainbow Lounge” dining room, and meeting rooms. A private garden offers additional outdoor space for patients.

The hospital’s layout includes patient areas on the ground and first floors, with office space and therapy rooms on the second floor. Children are accommodated in Rowan Ward, while adults are housed in Ash Ward. Each patient group has its own dedicated dining and lounge areas.
