I recently had ICL surgery with Blue Fin Vision, under the care of Mr Hove, and wanted to share my experience. From the first consultation, the timeline to getting to surgery was pretty quick, with a few tests and a small, pre surgery procedure done in Harley street. I also had plenty of face time with Mr Hove, and his clear explanations and reassuring manner made a huge difference to what is quite a big decision! The procedure itself took about an hour, and it was a little stressful — as you’d expect — but the team did absolutely everything they could to help me feel comfortable and supported. In hindsight, I should have considered the level of sedation I wanted (as I only went with oral diazepam) and I know I could have had this conversation with Mr Hove beforehand if I had just given him a call. I felt throughout that Mr Hove’s number 1 priority was delivering the absolute best outcome possible for my vision. There was some discomfort right after, but by the next day I felt close to completely fine. The 1-week, 1-month and ongoing checkups are incredibly reassuring in terms of monitoring my eye health. Before surgery I had significant long-sightedness and astigmatism, and now I can see clearly without glasses or contacts — genuinely life-changing. Communication from Blue Fin Vision has been excellent throughout, and they were always happy to work around my busy schedule. Overall, I’ve had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend Blue Fin Vision and Mr Hove.

Receptionist was absolutely lovely and really friendly and helpful. The building and facilities were all excellent and kept clean and tidy. The consultant I saw was extremely rude, arrogant and judgemental. There were several comments he made that shocked me and that made me feel very uncomfortable to the point I almost walked out mid appointment. There was very little sympathy or mindfulness of my injury and he came across extremely judgemental in the assumptions he made about the level of sport I played, what I could afford, and several other things. I actually play semi-professionally and have represented our country in World Championships in the sport I play, and I also have a law degree and accountancy qualification which I did not mention as quite frankly it is irrelevant. It was apparent he took a dislike to me for whatever reason from the start and the whole experience was very uncomfortable. His behaviour aside, he is clearly very knowledgeable and good at what he does. Reading between the lines I got the answer I needed. This hospital was recommended to me by one of your previous patients and I was lucky to get booked in through an NHS referral but after my experience I would never return for any issue and am relieved I didn't pay to go private.

We recently visited Nuffield Vale of Glamorgan for my son’s squint surgery under the care of Dr Jewsbury. The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. I had a follow up appointment for more YAG Laser treatment. Upon entering Cathedral Eye Clinic you are greeted by very friendly and helpful staff at reception. Thereafter I had very detailed tests carried out by a female Optometrist who is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Finally I had further tests and this was followed by the laser treatment by Mr Best who exudes absolute professional brilliance and is very reassuring explaining everything in detail. A truly excellent experience and I can recommend their fantastic care to anyone.
