From my experience with Mr. Casula, I have no doubt that he is an expert in his field. I consulted him for a severe mitral regurgitation, a condition I knew very little about, but he explained the issue clearly and described the symptoms I was likely experiencing with complete accuracy. He then walked me through the impact of my condition and how it could progress if left untreated. It quickly became clear that timely treatment was essential. Next came the discussion about treatment options—repair the valve, with a fallback to replacement it if necessary, along with the choice of replacement available using minimal invasive treatment for fast recovery time. This was the most intimidating part of the entire process, but Mr. Casula made everything as straightforward as possible so my family and I could make an informed decision. What impressed me most was his high standard of care: he wasn’t willing to let me undergo a 4–6 hour surgery without ensuring a lasting, effective solution. We talked through our goal and the contingency options if the initial plan wasn’t achievable. On the day of the surgery, he made sure my family and I were fully comfortable with the surgery plan, what I was going to go through, and what to expect afterward. Just over four hours later (which felt more like 30 minutes to me), I woke up to learn that the surgery had gone smoothly and there had been no need to consider any of the backup plans. That was two weeks ago, either I have high tolerance for pain or the pain management is excellent. I mostly too paracetamol and he is still checking in to make sure I’m doing well. Since that operation, my shoulder had been in constant pain. After numerous hospital visits and rounds of physiotherapy, I was repeatedly told there was nothing wrong and that I would simply have to live with it. I was then recommended to Dr. Jagwant Singh, and from my very first appointment he recognised that something wasn’t right. He immediately sent me for an MRI scan, which revealed a bicep tear and a labral tear. He arranged the necessary surgery and successfully repaired my shoulder. I cannot thank Dr. Jagwant Singh enough. I’m now eight weeks post-op, the pain has almost completely gone, and my movement has nearly returned. Due to my individual circumstances there was some confusion in relation to payment and that spilled over onto me personally as well as causing stress across the whole procedure at the outset. This was resolved but exposes the fact that some attention needs to be paid to the way things are looked at and handles when the circumstances fall outside of the general conventions of the service provided. In the end it was all sorted out but the initial confusion and stress could have been avoided. I have no complaints but was a bit surprised at the apparent chaos at the outset. I have no idea if any one aspect was to blame, I think it was probably general confusion in relation to gaps in communication between the parties involved in payment etc.

Having not been inside a private hospital in a long time, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The Spencer is not luxurious in any way and there are no nods to suggest that you are in private hospital compared to run of the mill NHS establishments (I think many including me, have forgotten just how ropey most NHS hospitals were in comparison). It is however, a more relaxed environment and on a much smaller scale. Attention from staff was great and the treatment (so far anyway!) seems top notch in terms of highly expert consultations. It’s too soon to tell how effective my treatment is, but I feel im in good, safe hands.

One stars as Nick was a no show. I waited 10 minutes and had an appointment following this one so this needed to happen as scheduled. After 10 mins I had not heard anything so enquired at the desk and was informed he was running late and would t be around for another hour. As I had another work-related appointment I could not wait. Given he was going o be over an hour late this should have been communicated to me when I arrived and checked in as it would have been known ahead of the scheduled appointment time. I also incurred expenses travelling to the hospital.

With a history of long term sunbed use and holidays abroad i decided to book an appointment for a skin check. The check was done manually and not a machine like other clinics advertise. The nurse was extremely friendly and I felt comfortable straight away. She conducted the examination and fed back to me on everything she found as she went along. I had a few questions to ask regarding sun exposure and found her very knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend the clinic and have gained lots of information I can use for the future.
