I was referred to Emily by Mr. Minas, my gynaecologist, as I wanted to see whether nutrition could help with my endometriosis and adenomyosis. I have been in pain since my surgery, and I hoped that starting an anti-inflammatory diet might make a difference. From my very first appointment, Emily left a wonderful impression. She is warm, easy to talk to, and made me feel completely comfortable. She listened carefully to all my concerns and provided personalised advice that genuinely felt like magic for me. She recommended a low FODMAP diet and gave me a clear list of foods to enjoy more of and foods to limit. With her guidance, I was able to combine both anti-inflammatory and low FODMAP principles in a way that worked for my lifestyle. She also introduced me to Field Doctor meals, which were incredibly helpful since I don’t always have time to cook. Even though I’ve only seen her three times, the reassurance and knowledge she has given me are invaluable. She answered all my questions, shared helpful recipes, and taught me practical ways to make my meals low FODMAP without feeling restricted. I also appreciate that she encourages balance—letting me enjoy the foods I love occasionally while focusing on better choices overall. It’s only been a couple of weeks since changing my diet, and my pain and bloating has already improved. Emily’s support, expertise, and kindness have truly put me on the right path. I also want to mention Aaron, the Camu Clinic secretary, who has been extremely helpful in managing my appointments and making sure I receive the links for my virtual sessions with Emily. His assistance has made the whole process smooth and stress-free. I’m very grateful for the excellent care and support I’ve received from both Emily and the team.

The admissions brochure fails to state that family members are not allowed to stay with patients during the pre-operative wait. This is a significant omission, as it creates avoidable anxiety for patients who are already nervous about their procedure and are only informed of this restriction upon arrival. The pre-op nurses showed poor bedside manner when I asked about this. Instead of offering reassurance, they quoted “hospital policy” and then gave reasons that felt dismissive and inaccurate — for example, claiming that “too many people come in and out of rooms,” when in reality only one nurse completed paperwork, followed later by the surgeon and anaesthetist. I was also told I would be going to theatre “shortly,” even though I knew (correctly) that I would be waiting another 1.5 hours. My family member could easily have stayed with me during that entire period, as is standard in the Ulster Independent Clinic and in my previous NHS experiences. The lack of engagement from the pre-op nurse beyond basic paperwork questions made the situation feel even more uncomfortable. The pods themselves felt more like small, bare cells than a calming space prior to surgery — no TV, no artwork, just two chairs and a table. It was far from a soothing environment. In contrast, the theatre staff and post-op nurses were outstanding. They were friendly, proactive, and reassuring, and they made up for the negative pre-operative experience. One final issue: the staff arranging my discharge medication did not check my notes and prescribed a medication I am unable to take. Because the pharmacy had already closed, the only solution was to remove it from the prescription entirely.

The Spire is a very clean and well equipt hospital but with limited parking. However, my last trip to the spire hartswood had an hours delay before I was seen, which isnt ideal. My thoughts on this is if Reform get their way and sell off NHS that private sector is no better equipt to deal with volume than NHS. Tjat daid onve seen I was treated by a lovely nurse Marianne who was very caring and jolly which made yhe appointment a very pmeasurable experience.

I came in to have my catheter removed and have a twok . This went well, the catheter removal was painless , and the first passing of water was amazing , best for 15 or more years . My named nurse Stacey was super. All of the nurses were very responsive and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. Veetu one of the care assistants was so kind to me helping me to shiwere sfter the op. The pirters were lovely. The foid was decent and well presented. Coffee was served on a tray with a doyley. Overall I felt like I had experienced proper care, not just another number in a queue.

I experienced little pain afterwards and indeed, two weeks after surgery for my hernia, most of the painkillers that I was given remain unused.
