Name: Patricia H. H. Patient ID: xxxxxxx Consultant: Mr Graham Bailie On Monday 8 December 2025 I visitied No. 6 Lisburn Road to have my wound reviewed. I recently had a full hip replacement with a wound on my hip with approximately 10 staples. The wound was reveiwed and reported that it was mending very satisfactorily. The original dressing on the wound was 30cm x 10cm. When the nurse was finishing examining the wound, she replaced the dressing with a smaller one - 15.5cm x 8.5 cm. She Spent some time stretching the smaller dressing to get it to cover all the staples in the wound. That evening, I experienced great pain with my wound. When I touched it through my clothing, the skin was extremely tender. Eventually, I removed the dressing to find extensive bruising at either side of the wound. It appears, that by stretching the smaller dressing to cover the staples, the wound itself had become extremely aggravated and angry. I replaced the dressing with a larger dressing. Within a few hours, the pain had subsided. However, 4 days later, the bruising is still present. I cannot understand why the nurse chose to use a smaller dressing which obviously caused great discomfort/aggravation to the wound. Having made a great recovery since the operation, this was a major setback to such a successful recovery.

I continued to use the surgery when premises were established in Shenfield. It was when I experienced heart problems some 5 years ago that I found Dr. Athreya to be particularly helpful. He offered his private cell phone number should I need help or advice at this difficult time prior to surgery. This literally proved a lifeline. I saw Dr. Athreya on 4th December this year and as usual he was able to diagnose the problem and prescribe a treatment plan. Dr Athreya is an experienced, knowledgeable practitioner and a credit to the team at EPD. He puts patients at ease and is interested in their experiences. I was sorry to hear he was leaving for I feel sure he will be sorely missed.

From his CV compared with the others, he appeared to me to be the best of the choices on offer in Bristol. Having made that selection I have no hesitation in confirming that he quickly identified the problem with my heart and recommended that I have a two lead Pacemaker fitted. Following his recommendation in just over a week the operation took place. He has a very friendly manner and took time to explain all aspects of the procedure he intended to follow and the risk factors involved. He appears as a person who is calm and reassuring and I was convinced he is totally reliable and someone I could trust.

I reached out to TCM after I was told that I had a very low AMH and AFC and that I would likely go through early menopause. This caused me a lot of stress as I had always had regular periods and had never considered that I may have fertility troubles. Prof Au talked me through my results and educated me on AMH as a poor predictor for menopause. He advised me that I would need further bloods to fully assess my fertility and I was able to request them from my GP. Following this he reviewed my bloods with me again, without charge, and advised me that everything was normal and I did not need to be seen at TCM. I am very grateful for all the help, support and education. Thank you!

Diagnosis clearly and professionally explained. Tried medication first and then carried out the procedure as symptoms continued. Again, very clearly explained and I was well prepared and knew what to expect. Pre and post procedure care were also both excellent. Whilst too early to tell conclusively, the procedure went as planned with very little discomfort and symptoms have so far ceased. Not necessarily an experience I would choose but given the necessity, everything went very well and I was made to feel very comfortable throughout.

Check in and pre op preparations were fast and efficient. Post op was also good, however, as I suffer from vertigo, there didn't seem to be any medical help available for this condition. I suffered with severe symptoms following anaesthetic. I was supposed to receive a text message the day before my op to confirm, but that didn't happen. When I found the Spencer carpark, I was refused barrier entry as apparently I should have been given a barrier gate code, but I didn't receive it. So this part of my experience was stressful.
