Dr Farrukh Shah is a consultant haematologist currently based at the Whittington hospital in London. Her area of specialism is general haematology and her areas of interest include thalaassaemia major, thalassaemia intermedia, iron overload disorders, haemachromatosis and iron deficiency. She leads the service at one of the largest centres for thalassaemia in the Uk and is recognised as an expert for these conditions internationally.

Dr Shah graduated from the University of Punjab in 1994 with an MBBS degree. She became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians in 1997 and a Member of the Royal College of Pathologists in 2001. She completed a Doctorate of Medicine in 2008 at University College London.

In addition, Dr Shah is also actively involved in clinical trials in thalassaemia and sickle cell disease. She has been a Chief Investigator and Primary investigator for a number of clinical trials in both disorders. She has also written book chapters and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. Dr Shah is also the Chair of the UK Forum on Haemoglobin Disorders which is a multiprofessional organisation that advocates on behalf of patients with haemoglobinopathies. and the current Chair of the National haemoglobinopathy registry.

Dr Joel Newman is a Consultant Haematologist currently working in London and the South East, consulting at London Bridge Hospital, HCA The Shard Diagnostic Center, HCA at Guy's Cancer Centre, Nuffield Health Brighton, Nuffield Health Tunbridge Wells Hospital and Spire Healthcare Sussex Hospital. Dr Sunil Gupta is a clinician with experience in clinical and laboratory haematology spanning more than 21 years. He obtained training at Kings College Hospital, London; Royal North Shore Hospital, Australia; National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore; and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), India. Part of his services includes inpatient and outpatient chemotherapies for Multiple Myeloma, Lymphomas, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia and Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. He is also into day case and inpatient blood transfusion and iron infusion. Dr Gupta provides consultations at all the major private hospitals in and around Bromley and Orpington. He is on the panel of all the major health insurance providers. He belongs to the British Society of Haematology, European Haematology Association, Medical Protection Society and the American Society of Haematology.
