Dr Ruth Whitby qualified in 1989 and has been working as a GP for over 25 years, both in the NHS and privately. She has a special interest in general medicine, stress management, health screening, gynaecology and paediatrics. During her career, Ruth worked as a corporate doctor and worked for four years with Land securities: the largest commercial property development and investment company in the UK, and now works with one of London’s leading advertising agencies, where tailored health screening is in high demand.
Ruth has also worked overseas in East Asia and Europe, where she gained vast experience in dealing with diverse cultural and ex-patriate communities. In the 1990s, she lived in Japan where she gained the Japanese medical licence, the first doctor from the UK to do so.
Recently, Ruth has recently moved from The Wellington Hospital where she served as GP representative for The Hospitals Medical Advisory Council. She has recently been appointed as Institute Chair of Primary Care for the new Cleveland Clinic London due to open in 2020 and is currently working at King Edward VII Hospital . She also holds a medical degree from Kings’ College Hospital, a diploma in obstetrics and gynaecology and a First-class honours degree in neuroanatomy.
