Mr Alasdair Mace is an experienced senior Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist practising in London, UK. He has a passion for excellence and providing the highest possible quality of care.

His subspecialist areas of expertise include throat, swallowing & voice disorders, tonsil problems, neck lumps, nose and sinus issues, ear infections & wax and mouth problems. In addition to this Mr Mace sees all general ear, nose and throat problems in adults and children.

He has been a Consultant ENT Head and Neck Surgeon at Charing Cross and St Mary's Hospitals since 2009. In addition to clinical roles, Mr Mace is an honorary senior lecturer at Imperial College Medical School. He was Head of ENT, Audiology and Oral Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust from 2013 to 2017 and is now the Lead Clinician for Head and Neck Cancer.

He has also received an NHS Award for Clinical Excellence.

Alasdair graduated from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, Imperial College, London in 1996. His higher surgical ENT training was based in central London teaching hospitals including St Bartholomew's, and The Royal Free Hospitals.

In 2007 he completed a visiting fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard University Medical School, Boston, USA, where he learnt advanced thyroid and parathyroid surgery techniques. He also completed research into laryngeal nerve monitoring in thyroid surgery and papillary thyroid cancer.

When he returned to the UK in 2008 Alasdair was awarded the position of Royal College of Surgeons Senior Fellow in Laryngology. He developed advanced skills in the management of voice, airway and swallowing disorders.

He has published nearly 40 academic papers and 3 book chapters, and teaches on a number of national and international medical courses. He is a teaching faculty member of the Royal College of Surgeons and an Examiner for MB, BS. He is also invited overseas as visiting surgeon to various overseas countries.

Jahangir (Jay) Ahmed is an experienced and highly regarded consultant in ENT, specialising in Head & Neck, Laryngology and Thyroid surgery at Barts-Health and UCLH NHS trusts. Mr. Ahmed was educated at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College School of Medicine, graduating in 2001 with the Gold medal in Pathology. He also attained an MA in experimental psychology from Cambridge. He was awarded a PhD in molecular oncology (2015) for his work at The Barts Cancer Institute on harnessing viruses for immuno-therapy of cancer.

He completed higher surgical ENT training in London teaching hospitals including The Royal London and St Bartholomew’s, Charing Cross, The Royal National Throat Nose and Ear and Great Ormond Street Hospitals. Uniquely he runs a tertiary level practice in the surgical management of sleep disordered breathing ranging from snoring to severe obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) refractory to continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP). Indeed, the team’s latest surgical audit has demonstrated tremendous success with 90% of OSA patients on CPAP who were treated by robotic surgery, not needing to use their CPAP machine post operatively.

Mr. Ahmed also performs a significant volume of advanced endoscopic sinus surgery, utilsing advanced technology such as image navigation and is therefore in a unique position to be able to offer safe, state of the art surgical treatment from nasal passage to voice box.

He has a keen research interest in minimally invasive transoral surgery and molecular treatment of cancers. He is a clinical lecturer at Queen Mary University of London. He gained further experience by visiting centers of excellence in the USA and Canada, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre-New York, Mount Sinai Hospital-Toronto, University of Alberta and University of Western Ontario, Canada. This brings an international outlook to his current clinical practice.

Following a consultant appointment at QEUH Glasgow, he was appointed as a consultant ENT/ head and neck surgeon at prestigious University College London Hospitals (UCLH) and was also conferred an Honorary Clinical Associate Professor at the University College London in 2019. He is a core member of UCLH Head Neck and Thyroid Multidisciplinary Teams.

He is very prolific in research, academics, teaching and training and has successfully led several research projects within the UK and overseas. He completed a multi-award winning PhD in “Head and Neck Surgery” from the prestigious Royal Marsden Hospital and Institute of Cancer Research, London. He has won over 15 national and international awards.

Mr Dwivedi’s academic record stands out amongst his peers. He has published over 80 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and contributed more than 20 chapters in major Head Neck and ENT books, including the well-known textbooks “Scott-Brown’s Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery” and “Principles and practice of Head Neck Surgery and Oncology”. He has also co-edited two Head Neck Surgery books and is co-founder and series-editor of the book series “Head and Neck Cancer Clinics”.

He serves on the editorial board of several specialty journals and has been scientific reviewer for more than 40 peer-reviewed journals including BMJ, JNCI, Cancer, Head Neck, Laryngoscope, Oral Oncology and Surgical Oncology.

Mr Dwivedi is on the faculty of various national and international ENT & head and neck courses and meetings and has delivered over 50 lectures globally. He is a member of over 20 professional & scientific bodies within the in UK and abroad. He is also an accredited trainer and regularly mentors trainees and medical students. He has co-supervised several MS/MSc and PhD students.
