Dr Francesco Lo Giudice is a consultant cardiologist at the Hammersmith Hospital. He graduated with honours from the University of Palermo, Italy, in 1992. He then undertook the specialist training in cardiology which he completed in 1998 with full marks. Upon his return to Italy, Dr Lo Giudice worked as a consultant cardiologist at San Raffaele-Giglio Hospital of Cefalu’ (200-2004) and at the University Hospital of Trieste (2004-2017) where he was in charge of the Pulmonary Hypertension Service at the cardiovascular department, but he has a vast experience in the field of cardiac intensive care and management of acute and chronic ischaemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies, advanced heart failure and complex arrhythmias. 

Dr Lo Giudice currently works in London at the Hammersmith Hospital since 2017, in the Cardiology department and he is part of the Pulmonary Hypertension National service team.

His main areas of interest are: pulmonary hypertension, congestive heart failure, ischaemic heart disease, cardiomyopathies, valvular heart disease, non-invasive and invasive cardiac investigations. He is also actively involved in clinical research.

Dr Lockie specialises in complex PCI and stenting procedures for blocked coronary arteries including primary angioplasty for acute heart attacks, intravascular imaging and coronary physiology. He is the clinical lead for coronary revascularisation at the Royal Free Heart Attack Centre. He also has responsibility in education and maintaining the institutional databases for heart attacks and PCI. He sits on the national advisory board for the British Cardiac Society, representing the North Central London region. 

He regularly teaches and lectures at conferences and seminars, including the international faculty of the European Society of Cardiology. He is also local principle investigator for several large, multi-centre clinical trials examining: novel stents; PCI in heart failure; PCI in cardiogenic shock; renal protection during coronary interventions; coronary flow and pressure measurements during PCI. In recognition of academic and clinical excellence Dr Lockie was recently elected a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC).

Dr. Lockie believes in a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to the treatment of patients with cardiac problems.
