Shameer Mehta is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at University College London Hospital and Honorary Associate Professor at University College London. He has a special interest in intestinal failure, clinical nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic radiation disease.

Shameer is committed to service development and is the Clinical Lead for the Trust Nutrition and Hydration Strategy Group, a task and action committee concerned with improving nutritional provision for patients, visitors and staff.

His research interests include the role of malnutrition and nutritional care in inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal-failure associated liver disease and pelvic radiation disease. He undertakes a wide range of research studies including basic science, translational, clinical and patient-focused work including the impact of lifestyle on disease and vice versa. He has given multiple national and international talks in these fields and continues to publish in peer-reviewed journals.

He is also actively involved in teaching and education. He is an accredited trainer for the ESPEN Clinical Nutrition Diploma, co-chairs a module on the UCL MSc in Clinical Nutrition and Public Health, sits on the organising committee of the UCLp Clinical Nutrition Course and leads on the preparation and delivery of teaching courses aimed at clinical nurse specialists, dieticians and pharmacists.

Mr Stephen Warren is a Consultant General, Colorectal & Laparoscopic Surgeon based in London, UK. Following his graduation from University of London in 1986 he soon discovered an interest in laparoscopic surgery, finding that patients experienced less pain compared to traditional methods and also recovered quicker with fewer complications. He trained at Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’ School of Medicine in London. After which he completed his training in London and Wessex, specialising in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine. 

Mani undertook his sub-specialty training and research degree at University Hospital Southampton, supported by the National Institute of Health Research. His Medical Doctorate was based on research into nutrition for patients with cancer.

Dr Adam Harris is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Physician with a special interest in dyspepsia, gastro-oesophageal reflux, irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel diseases. He qualified from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School in 1987 and gained the degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1995 following two years of full-time academic research within the field of gastroenterology. 

Dr Harris worked for the NHS for over 30 years, working as a consultant in Tunbridge Wells from 1997 until 2017, and now practices exclusively privately in multiple clinics in West Kent and the City of London. He is actively involved in the British Society of Gastroenterology and has held the roles of Secretary and Chair within the Clinical Services & Standards Committee. In October 2007, he received a National Bronze Clinical Excellence Award, recognizing his “sustained and dedicated contribution to the NHS over and above any contractual requirement”.

Dr Harris has been involved in multiple publications, both within his field and more generally. He co-authored the NICE guidelines for ulcerative colitis, as well as the BSG Handbook for Independent Practice. He has also been active in research on topics ranging from ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease to Helicobacter pylori and acid-related disease.
