Dr Syed first met me after an initial A and E admission. I saw him in his Respiratory clinic whilst still feeling unwell. He listened very carefully to me as a patient. Took a very full History and then carried out essential tests to evaluate the asthma in detail. He altered the treatment regimen accordingly. I was admitted a few weeks later following a severe sand storm to the hospital with silent chest. Kings College hospital dubai emergency department first prioritised stabilising my breathing and Dr Syed was contacted immediately. He was incredibly thorough during my admission ensuring treatment was accurate, effective and medically indicated. It was a 9 day stay with severe asthma. Dr. Syed identified that there was a need to start a treatment called Biologics. This revolutionary asthma treatment is indicated for type 2 allergic asthma and steroid dependent asthma. He discussed this with colleagues internationally to further validate his decision. I have just begun treatment and am hopeful I can now start to reduce and eventually stop these steroids. The side effects of steroids are very detrimental and I am looking forward to the positive life changing effects that will come from this. I will update in a few months. I also wanted to say a huge thank you to Dr Syed and his nurse Jean Mary who worked tirelessly to ensure that my insurers understood the medical urgency and necessity for this medication. They are heroes!
