Mr Ahmad Mohamad Altunji qualified in medicine (MD) from the University of Aleppo in 1987. Following this, he went to do attain a masters degree in urology in 1993 from SMOH, and worked in the renowned Ministry of Health in Al Razi and Ibnrushed Hospital, where he was the head of the urology department until its closure in 2013.
Mr. Altunji is a passionate educator and has been involved in the teaching of resident doctors as well as managing urologic and endoscopic cases within his broad scope of urological expertise. He has worked as the head of endoscopic cases and was the first specialist in the management of ureteral stone and extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy stone removal. For his achievements in this area as well as TURP (prostate resection), we was recognised by the minister of health.
In 2008, Mr. Altunji began his research work, in the area of treatment and prevention of bladder and prostate cancer. His interest in research was been an important part of his career thus far, having published over 20 medical papers in his area of specialism.
Mr. Altunji has was written the guidelines for endoscopic surgery for resident doctors as well as guidelines for paediatric surgery, a testament to his excellence and skill in his field. In 2013 he relocated to the UAE where he continues to practice in the field of urology, to the great benefit of his many patients.
