In 2016, Dr. Arthur Williams joined DISC. He is a Specialist in Sports & Family Medicine who is registered with the Health Professional Board of South Africa.
Dr. Williams graduated in 1999 from the University of Stellenbosch with his Medical Degree and Masters Degree in Family Medicine. Later in 2004 he graduated from the University of Cape Town with a Masters Degree in Sports Medicine.
He then worked as a Sports Medicine Physician in Queensland Australia and Cape Town South Africa, working primarily with professional rugby teams. His role as a sports medicine specialist included traveling with professional teams to their international sporting events across several countries and acting as an on-field practitioner.
In the last 12 years he has gained significant experience as a Sports Medicine Specialist whilst working with elite and professional athletes.
Dr. Williams' realises that working in a team environment is essential in developing a professional sports team. He therefore, integrates his care with other specialists and colleagues like orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists, chiropractors, strength & conditioning trainers, dietitians, psychologists, sport scientists and coaches.
Through his work at international events and tournaments (Super Rugby, HSBC Sevens Rugby, World Cup Junior and Women Rugby, Cricket World Cup) he has also gained extensive experience in emergency medical care.
In 2009 Dr. Williams completed his 3-year course in Muscuskuloskeletal ultrasound which has allowed him to finalise pathology and injury via a diagnostic ultrasound, during a patient consultation.
