Dr Roonak Rahman-Pour

Dr. Roonak Rahman-Pour is an experienced Obstetrician and Gynaecologist based in Melbourne, with experience practising multiple countries and healthcare systems. She graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences and began her career working in rural areas before spending a decade at Milad Hospital, one of Iran’s leading tertiary centres, as well as in several private hospitals.

In 2009, she relocated to Canada, where she completed the Canadian qualification exams, became a Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada, and expanded her clinical experience at Humber River Hospital in Toronto.

Dr. Rahman-Pour moved permanently to Australia in 2015, undertaking two years of supervised practice at Canberra Tertiary Hospital before obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) in 2017. She then served over five years as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Mount Gambier, South Australia, before transitioning to her current public role at Eastern Health, working across Box Hill, William Angliss, and Healesville hospitals.

Alongside her clinical work, she is a dedicated educator, mentoring medical students and RANZCOG registrars. She has previously been a Women’s Health PBL tutor at Flinders University Rural School and was awarded Specialist Teacher of the Year in 2019 for excellence in clinical education. She also collaborates with Safer Care Victoria to improve the quality and safety of public healthcare.

In 2023, Dr. Rahman-Pour co-founded a private practice with colleague Dr. Affie Tourani, offering a patient-centred approach to women’s health, with a strong emphasis on shared decision-making.
