I feel incredibly lucky to have found Lorna when I did. I had avoided going to therapy for over a decade when I first met her and it is a testament to her patient and thoughtful practice that I returned week-on-week for the next year. Although I first got in touch with her in order to deal with bereavement and family issues, her kind and deliberate counselling guided me through so much more. She met me where I was at - during a very low period - and allowed me the space and time to find my bearings in therapy, while actively giving me the tools I needed to redress a decade of neglected grief. Collaterally, she thus helped me regain parts of my self I thought I'd lost, including my sense of confidence, self-esteem and optimism. I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have found in her a therapist who who was able to listen meaningfully to me and create the counselling experience I needed at that time.

Some time after having cataracts removed from both eyes I had problems with double vision and had seen doctors in the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear hospital on two occasions. They could not help me. They suggested I see an optician which I did. Twice. This did not help either. On a later visit to the RVE&E I had the very good fortune to be seen by Dr. Kirk Stephenson. What a difference. He took great care to explain everything he did and was patient and gentle throughout the examination. At the end of the consultation he suggested a short laser treatment which I agreed to. It was as if he waved a magic wand. My eyesight was immediately fixed and has remained so. The double vision was apparently caused by some 'detritus' in the eye after the cataract laser treatment. I cannot recommend Dr. Stephenson highly enough. He is superb.

Today I accompanied my elderly mother to her appointment with Dr. Shane O'Regan regarding her recent glaucoma diagnosis. He chatted to her for a few minutes to put her mind at ease and then clearly explained her prognosis and treatment plan . As my mother also has hearing difficulty, I was very happy that he took the time to explain everything to her directly and not just through me. He answered any questions that she had and reassured her about her concerns. All of the staff we met there were friendly, patient and courteous.
